Desert Broom in Bloom 11/12/24

Broom Baccharis (Baccharis sarothroides) is blooming at Miramar Reservoir this month!

Growing 4-12’ tall, and 3-6’ wide, it can be used in your landscape as a screen, hedge or slope stabilizer.  This plant prefers good drainage, requires little maintenance and water, and can handle full sun, even in inland San Diego.  This evergreen shrub is an important habitat plant for birds, butterflies, and moths, providing food and cover.  A related plant, Pigeon Point Coyote Brush (Baccharis pilularis ssp. pilularis 'Pigeon Point') grows 1-2’ tall, and 6-8’ wide, making it an excellent choice as a ground cover in your garden.  Click the links below for more information.
